If you have any ideas or people you wanna report or anything you want to tell me, you can say it here or shoot me an email on (andrew ad upwader dod com)

New UK censorship laws

Today the new UK censorship laws set in so websites like:

  1. All porn websites
  2. 4chan
  3. SpaceHey for some reason

are no longer available.

I doubt anybody cares but we're not really a company so you won't have to worry about us becoming unavailable.

Although I do hope they take off these absurd censorship laws very soon.

Dude, Where's My Childhood?

As a kid, I had unrestricted internet access. While that's affected me in many negative ways, it has affected me in many positive ways. I was always careful to not get into deep shit, and so far I've succeeded.

I always used the internet to just watch YouTube and play games on Newgrounds. I kind of owe my internet presence to UNDERTALE, being that because of it I joined the Undertale amino and despite having my name and face on my profile, I never got groomed or had any sexual advances thrown at me. I guess I do owe something to being unattractive, but from there I joined forums, eventually Discord and Twitter. And I've loved hanging out with the internet strangers and surfing the web tubes with them.

However, some people aren't so lucky. Some just aren't meant to handle the heat of the internet. The concept of a "lolcow", despite being entertaining to most, is a bit sad to me. I think these people are just mentally ill and are being bullied by the internet because they find it entertaining. It seems like a lot of people forget that there's a human in the screen most of the time, including me. I don't act the same IRL as I do on the internet. I wouldn't go around calling everyone names as a joke like I do on the webs.

Gen Z was probably the last generation that could have grown up without the internet. It's now the time for gen alpha to live with modern technologies. But what will come of this generation? How will they treat each other? Will people just start treating each other like shit for their own entertainment? Probably, but I don't really know. I'd have to see it myself to find out.

I like to think that I grew up on the last years of the "mid-modern" web. Not everything was about money, not everything was short-form, reddit videos used to be human-narrated and cryptocurrency wasn't as big a deal as it is now. That Internet that I used to love is dead. What remains are the people that used to be in it still creating things for other people to enjoy.

Of course, I'm probably seeing it through rose-tinted glasses but my point is: What will come of the internet now?

What we think is brainrot is just kids enjoying the new content made for them. We enjoyed SMG4, MLG edits, reddit videos, pewdiepie memes, whatever.

Now that everyone's more comfortable sharing things about themselves on the web, will this mean a new resurgence of bullies and a golden era of "lolcows" or will it mean the internet will be less rough?

Will the internet be ruled by a government and everyone will have to identify themselves before using the internet?

Well, there's no real answer to those questions except for waiting but all I know is that the internet is not for us anymore. We're a dying demographic and we're just going to put ourselves in our spaces for the next generation to take over the internet, then they'll be replaced by the next generation and then they're going to become a dying demographic, and so on.

But just because the internet you knew and loved is now gone doesn't mean you can't enjoy it anymore.

There's a reason why this website exists and it was because one french guy 6 years ago just missed MySpace in it's original state. Have you ever gone to myspace.com on the web archive, selected 2005 and realized "wait, MySpace46 doesn't look like this at all!". That's because MySpace93 wasn't a clone of MySpace, it was a clone of a memory of MySpace. This thing you're looking at right now is just how a man remembered MySpace being like. You're looking at a drawn version of a memory.

You can always remember the past and it's okay to think that the past was better than the present, but keep in mind nostalgia is just a feeling. It's likely that the past was just as silly and bad as the present. There were always problems 8 years ago, and 8 years later, there's still many problems in the world.

It's okay to think about the past, but don't try going back to the past, because that's how you become a manchild. You can become so blinded by thoughts of the past just being a better time that you begin subconciously trying to just go back. You start doing things that are more "childish". You start behaving like you used to when you were way younger. You start liking the things you used to like and you start trying to bring them back to life.

So don't. Accept that the past can't come back, and grow past it. Keep it as a nice memory.

A better version of myself

It's pretty normal to think you can better yourself. Some think they could be better at some things, and everyone else thinks they could be better at everything.

And that's okay. You can do things to try and better yourself. The Internet is a helpful resource, if you don't know what to do next, well, google it. As long as you try.

But what if you don't want to try? What if you just don't think you can become better? What if one accepts themselves as a bad person or just doesn't think there's anything wrong with themselves, even when there clearly is?

That's also normal. You see it often with friends, people around you, and people on the Internet. But it's not right.

Me, being a pretty big Internet addict, see a lot of people who just gather around other people who are just as mentally sick as them if not worse because they just like being encouraged or accepted for doing bad.

An example is Eating Disorder Twitter.
Another example is SoulBrotherNumber3, commonly known as "SBN3".

SBN3's story is pretty convoluted. I didn't really research much about it for this post specifically but all I know is that he grew up on the internet in the early 2000s without many friends. He was just a silly teenager doing stupid stuff on Skype and being a fan of anime and videogames.

He made anime voice-over parodies and memes of the like in the early 2010s, gaining a little bit of YouTube fame, and giving him a small fanbase.

Now, being a grown man, he made a game to profit from his writing skillz. That game is a visual novel by the name of "Class of '09". It was about a high school girl named Nicole who's a sociopath and quick-witted causing all sorts of mischief, getting high, killing students, or ruining their lives, all for her own entertainment or benefit.

It's a bit shameful to admit to being a fan of these types of games, but, they're pretty entertaining. I liked Doki Doki Literature Club so much I even made a fan game about it that's long lost nowadays. But I liked Class of '09. And a good amount of people liked it too.

The people who liked it, at the time, were SBN3's YouTube fans and friends. But about 2 years after releasing the sequel to this visual novel, the game suddenly blew up. People loved it.

The game was at an all-time high. Everyone was talking about it!
So SBN3 released the final entry to the saga. A 3rd game.

But it wasn't good.

It looked more like if he was trying to make a game about his barely disguised foot fetish.
Seven endings the game had, and two of them were about getting people to pay you to rub your feet on them. Why?

Well, being a social outcast who grew up on the internet in the early 2000s who just trolled people on Skype, watched anime and played videogames, SBN3 learned that everything he liked was lame. Anime sucks. Videogames are for losers. Being rude is cool. Maybe I, personally, don't know enough about him to know for sure what he thinks, but this is certainly the image he puts out.

SBN3 didn't like what the new fanbase had become. He didn't like what the people who liked his work were. Mostly teenagers between the age of 12 to 17. Portraying his characters as "insane" or "lovey-dovey" or "overly corny". So, he made the 3rd and final game with the goal of sabotaging his fanbase, so only the die-hard fans would stay.

SBN3 made the first games to display what he wished he was. He just wants to be seen as "cool".

To be so against success that you're willing to destroy it just so you'll be "happy" with the result?

Well... it's something Salvador Dali would have done. I don't have words for it.

Some people just don't want to better themselves. They're okay with what they are because they don't know that there's something wrong with them.

I'm not happy about it.

Fun stuff

There's a lot of cool neat easter eggs / stuff that's been on MySpace for years without anyone really acknowledging it too much.

  1. The footer 88x31 buttons

The first two stay the same every time, but the 3rd one changes with every page you visit.
Also, you can view a list of every single one of them here.
The file listing is also open in case you want to see that, here.

If you have any suggestions for 88x31 buttons, you can check out the 88x31 museum here.
Be warned that there's a lot of NSFW buttons.

  1. Music page easter egg

This has been there for about 3 years now, but have you tried just clicking the "download" button first thing after going on the Music page?

  1. The footer of my page

On my profile page, and on my profile page only, the footer is the original footer this website had when it launched on October of 2022.

  1. Markdown Extra

This isn't really hidden but so many websites don't really support it so nobody would expect it to be there.
Read: https://michelf.ca/projects/php-markdown/extra/

That's all I can think of right now. Maybe I'll update this blog.

Reconsideration

I look up at the big tall glass building and I reconsider what I've been planning on doing for the past 7 years.

Not ever did I think people who worked for a company deserved pain and suffering for their actions, but that changed a long time ago.

One "Ape, Incorporated", known for making two games.

A company known for making the RPG to end all RPGs. So good, it inspired many others to make their own.

This company lays below the foundations of this building.

Six feet deep and each day going slight lower into hell. Or maybe they're already there.

Is it okay to carbomb the new ruins of Ape, Inc?

Do they still deserve pain and suffering for the fact they ruined RPGs forever?

One last big boom just for the aftershocks to be the same game, over and over?

or should I let them live?

for they've since moved on to making games about silly animals in small balls.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6c/Iidabashi_Grand_Bloom_2019a.jpg/800px-Iidabashi_Grand_Bloom_2019a.jpg

They don't need all that building for Pokemon.

Maybe they do need a downsizing.

Small update

All audio and video tags will now have a class depending on their state:

_playing for when it's playing
_paused for when it's paused
_paused _ended for when it's ended. Keep in mind it's _paused _ended and not just _ended

That's it. Awesome update. Convenience. Thanks

"What's up with Tom's profile?"

Jimmy John's. That's what's up.

https://i.imgur.com/Xvao8nf.png

Aydo made this image 7 months ago but I had only seen it for the first time a few days ago.

https://i.imgur.com/wp7j90c.png

I thought it was really funny, and then thought that I had never ever had some fun with Tom's page, considering I've always wished more indie devs owned big game platforms (like Roblox) I thought I'd set the image to Tom's profile picture.

About 2 days later I ask Aydo to make a theme for Tom's "Jimmy John's" phase, and he did.
I also found a Jimmy John's flash game to set as Tom's SWF.

It'll be back to normal in a couple days.

Here's an archive.org link for when the event's over: https://web.archive.org/web/20240822215153/https://myspace.f46n.org/?id=1

I live in Europe. Jimmy John's doesn't even exist where I live.

Discord patch

Remember Discord's CDN?

You could use it as an image host if you wanted to. Now you can't.

Sadly, I hadn't done anything to warn users here to move their images off the platform. It's too late for that now.

If you try to embed an image on a blog post/group thread/comment now, you'll get this warning:

https://i.imgur.com/5gcnNEt.png

The solution is pretty simple as of now. Just use imgur. It works pretty well.

And also:

We downloaded every Discord CDN image used here.

https://i.imgur.com/6nXVNcu.png

All images that used the Discord CDN here are now backed up on our server, making every image that used Discord's CDN viewable again.

Except for some, which have been deleted off of Discord's CDN.

Here's the list of lost images:

Groups

Should we add groups?

It's a feature that was on Meb before it was killed off.

I won't re-add the video platform or the games page (cuz who cares) but groups sounds like something that we should add.

Leave your thoughts and stuff in the reply section.

Epic coding fail!

This user managed to figure out how to make people automatically accept their friend requests.

They responsibly told me about the bug, and i fixed it, but they had added everyone on the site before i had fixed it.

As a "thank you" for not fucking up the site somehow, I told them i wouldn't delete their fake friends, but if they'd be so kind to do so, to please delete them.

I want to apologize for this epic coding fail, as it's a pretty big fuck-up.

Sorry, everyone.

I promise i won't fuck up like this again any time soon, unless another big bug is found.

(I coded this website while high on sleep deprivation)

So, feel free to unadd them, or don't.

Your choice.

"im not owned! im not owned!!", i continue to insist as my website is hacked
